Pantum Printer Problems and Fixes

Pantum makes budget lasers, and the single most common complaint about them is the printer showing as offline when it is plainly switched on and connected. It is worth knowing that this is usually the computer's doing rather than the printer's: Windows checks a printer's status over SNMP, and where a printer does not answer that query, Windows records the silence as offline. Turning off the SNMP status check in the port settings clears it and changes nothing about printing.

Drivers are the other Pantum-specific point. These machines are less likely than the big makes to be recognised automatically by Windows, and more likely to need the driver from Pantum's own support page installed before the printer is connected rather than after. Plugging the cable in first and letting Windows guess is the usual route to a printer that half works.

Wireless setup is done from the printer's own panel or through Pantum's app, and on models without a screen the app is the practical route, because there is nowhere to type a password.
