Safety first

Switch a printer off at its power button and unplug it from the wall before reaching inside. Laser printers contain a fuser that stays hot enough to burn for some time after use, and parts of any printer carry mains voltage.

Warranty and damage

Some steps, particularly those involving opening panels or removing internal parts, can void a manufacturer warranty or damage the machine if done wrongly. Steps that carry that risk are flagged on the page, but the responsibility for proceeding is yours.

If your printer is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer before attempting an internal repair.

No guarantee

Guides describe what commonly resolves a given fault. They cannot account for every model, firmware version or combination of circumstances, and following them does not guarantee a fix. Where a fault is likely to be hardware, the guide says so.

Not professional service

Nothing here replaces a qualified technician. For faults involving the power supply, mainboard or anything you are unsure about, get the machine looked at.
