AirPrint: No AirPrint Printers Found

What it means

Your iPhone or iPad cannot see an AirPrint printer to print to. Almost always the phone and the printer are on different Wi-Fi networks, or on the same router but different bands with client isolation on, or the printer is asleep. It is a discovery problem, not a fault with the printer. Putting both devices on the same 2.4GHz network and waking the printer resolves most cases.

Common questions

What does the No Printers Found error mean on a printer?

Your iPhone or iPad cannot see an AirPrint printer to print to. Almost always the phone and the printer are on different Wi-Fi networks, or on the same router but different bands with client isolation on, or the printer is asleep. It is a discovery problem, not a fault with the printer. Putting both devices on the same 2.4GHz network and waking the printer resolves most cases.

Is the No Printers Found error serious?

Not usually. Codes at this level normally clear once the condition they describe is dealt with, and a printer that carries on working afterwards has nothing further wrong with it.

Different code or problem?

Switch off and unplug a printer before reaching inside it. If a fault involves the power supply or internal electronics, or the machine is under warranty, contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician. Full disclaimer.
