Your printer feeds paper and moves the carriage across the page, but nothing shows up on the sheet. Epson EcoTank printers pull ink from external tanks through internal tubes to a permanent Micro Piezo print head. When you get blank pages, faded text, or missing colors, that ink stream has been interrupted.

You probably assume the printer is out of ink or broken for good. Usually, ink just cannot pass through the microscopic nozzles. Dried ink blocks the opening, or trapped air creates an air lock in the tubing. Letting ink drop below the lower line pulls air right into the delivery tubes, or a closed transportation valve cuts off the flow entirely.

Your printer does not have a software failure, and the tanks are not empty. The supply line between the reservoirs, dampers, and print head simply needs to be cleared. Run a nozzle check pattern to see which black, cyan, magenta, or yellow nozzles are failing to fire.

    Inspect Ink Tanks and Check for Proper Refill Sealing

    Open the ink tank cover. Verify the correct color inks were poured into the matching tanks. Ensure all tank rubber caps or valve lids are sealed tightly to maintain proper atmospheric pressure in the system.

    If multiple cleanings do not clear the clogs, turn the printer off and let it sit for 6 to 12 hours. This gives the liquid ink time to dissolve dried pigment around the microscopic nozzle openings naturally.

    If the nozzle check pattern remains broken or blank after resting, run a Power Cleaning (also called Power Ink Flushing) from the Maintenance menu or driver utility. This forces a high volume of ink through the lines to purge stubborn air pockets.

    Power Cleaning consumes a significant amount of ink and fills the waste ink pad quickly. Do not run more than one Power Cleaning within a 12-hour window.

When to contact a professional

Stop troubleshooting and contact Epson or a repair tech if a Power Cleaning fails to restore any ink flow, if ink is leaking onto the internal carriage rail or under the base, or if you get a persistent error saying the waste ink pad is full. Trying to fix it yourself past this point will only cause more damage. If the print head carriage is locked in the capping station, do not force it to move. Keep your hands off the clear encoder strip and the ribbon cables inside the carriage area.
