Double-Sided Printing Not Working: How to Fix Duplex Settings

If your printer will not print on both sides automatically, or the duplex option is missing from your computer settings, you have a communication gap or a physical material limitation. Missing settings rarely mean a broken machine. Check your driver first. If your computer is using a generic option like the Microsoft IPP Class Driver, advanced finishing features vanish. You might also need to manually enable the duplex accessory in your device settings, even if the correct driver is installed.

Paper type matters just as much. Cardstock, envelopes, labels, and transparencies automatically disable duplex printing on many models. Thickness, glue, and heat curl cause jams, so the printer blocks two-sided printing for these materials.
